What are your pork snacks fried in?
Our entire range of pork snacks are fried in pork fat. We never use vegetable oils.
Where are your pork snacks made?
Our entire range of pork snacks are proudly made in Denmark. U.K. produced pork snacks are almost always made with Danish pork rind (or pork rind from other EU countries), and so we decided that to get the best tasting pork snacks we were best served by going directly to source.
What’s the difference between Pork Scratchings, Pork Crackling and Pork Puffs?
Both Pork Scratchings and Pork Crackling are made using rind from the leg of pigs. They have slightly different fat/skin ratios and different cooking methods that result in Pork Scratchings being much more brittle - compared to the slightly lighter and crisper Pork Crackling. Pork Puffs however are made using back rind, which is completely free of fat and results in a very puffed texture, and a lower fat content.
What makes your Pork Snacks different?
Great question! There are three main differences between our Awfully Posh Pork Snack range and others.
1. Our pork snacks are made using prime cuts of pork rind, which allows us to create a product that is much more consistent in size and shape. Most U.K. manufacturers use “off cuts” (a by-product) that result in a very inconstant piece size, chunks of fat and sometimes - hairs! 2. We only ever use fresh pork rind. Almost all U.K manufacturers use frozen rind, imported from the EU.
2. We only ever use fresh rind. By having our products made in Denmark - the largest pork market in Europe, we can cook the pork rind from fresh. Almost all U.K. manufacturers use frozen, imported rind which results in a far inferior end product.
3. Our ingredients list consists of just two lines: pork and salt. Nothing else is needed, and so we don’t add anything else.
